The world is going through technological advancements every day. The future that awaits us is full of clean, easy and portable technologies. To accomplish this feat, techs are going wireless. With Bluetooth devices and wireless charging, the world is trying to get rid of the cords that used to entangle our lives. Therefore, it is high time that our kitchen appliances follow the same trend.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, people are trying to avoid contact from the outside world and maintain the quarantine properly. That is why people are ordering takeouts less and starting to take initiative towards home-cooked meals. This makes it the perfect time to renovate the kitchen. However, all the appliances make cooking rather troublesome. The Ki cordless kitchen standard may bring a revolutionary change to that. Designing the perfect cordless kitchen is not a dream of the future anymore.
What is the Ki Cordless Standard?
In 2019, the Kitchen Work Group, establishment of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), developed the Ki cordless kitchen standard. This revolutionary standard made cooking more convenient for the people. Appliances that follow this standard do not need to be powered directly into any outlet using wires; rather they are powered using magnetic power sources built into the kitchen hob. Each of the appliances has a coil underneath that produces A.C. current from the magnetic field created by the hobs. It is similar to the wireless power charging that we use for our phones.
Power cords that our regular appliances use not only creates a mess on the countertop but also brings many hazards including electric hazards. Cordless appliances eliminates the hassle of plugging it in and out of an outlet.
Designing a cordless kitchen
Designing a cordless kitchen is relatively easier than you would expect it to be. The only things that you will need are
- Ki cordless kitchen standard smart transmitter hobs
- Smart appliances to go along with them.
That is it. That will be all the devices you need. The countertops provide your appliances with not only power but also with the heat that you will need to cook your meals.
How it works
The smart hobs are placed underneath your kitchen countertop, hidden from the visible sight. When smart kitchen devices are placed the transmitter underneath the hobs turn of and give your appliances the juice it needs to run. The transmitter hobs are compatible with all kinds of materials and can be installed safely underneath any flat countertops such as marble, wood, ceramic etc.
These wireless countertops are smart enough to distinguish between the appliancesplaced upon them. The transmitters would not produce any charge or heat for devices that are not equipped with smart receivers. These smart devices can communicate with the transmitter to specify what it needs so that the transmitter can provide accordingly. It means that the transmitter hobs will not turn on for not only non-metal objects, but also for objects like keys, credit cards, phones etc. and prevent causing any source of damage to them. Smart appliances include juicers, blenders, toasters, fryers, rice cookers, coffee makers and many more. The transmitter will also be able to differentiate between smart electronic and cooking appliances such as pots, pans and more, to know when to produce electricity and when to produce heat.
The Ki cordless standard is the same as the Qi standard used for wirelessly charging smart phones and Bluetooth devices. The difference is that whereas the Qi standard can only produce 14 watts of maximum power, the Ki kitchen standard can produce 2.2 Kilowatts (2000 watts) of maximum power. The Ki kitchen standard can produce power in various ranges according to the need of the appliance, underneath the maximum power of 2.2 kWs. This makes it not only safe and easy, but also more 90 percent efficient than gadgets that use cords.
The Ki cordless kitchen standard is a revolutionary development by the Wireless Power Consortium. Countless providers are already adapting to this standard and taking part in building a safe and advanced future. Thus, get rid of all the clutter from your kitchen, build your dream kitchen, and take a part in creating a more sustainable future
