The Importance of CCTV cameras for your home’s security

Your home is your safe place, where you can relax after a difficult day and where you can enjoy quality family time. But, just because you’re at home doesn’t mean that you’re entirely safe. Although crime rates are generally decreasing, you can still be targeted intentionally or by accident. That’s why you need to take home security seriously.

It’s also the reason you should speak to an expert in CCTV installations to get these added into your home security.

What Is CCTV

CCTV stands for Closed Circuit TV, in effect, it’s a video recording device that records the events it’s looking at and stores the data. It’s called closed-circuit because there is no outside access to the system. In reality, this is no longer the case as the improvements in smart technology have now made it possible to access your CCTV system from anywhere in the world via your smartphone.

But, the principle remains the same, it records and saves the images in case you need them later.

Why CCTV?

Your home has locks on the doors and windows but this doesn’t mean that every opportunist will stay away from your property. If you have a nice looking home or they know that you have certain items inside they’re likely to want to get in, and a door lock or window lock doesn’t offer a lot of resistance to a trained professional.

Especially if they know you’re not home.

However, CCTV is going to record them as they approach your home and as they break-in. In fact, you can even have a motion sensor camera inside your home that will capture them inside your home. This dramatically increases the chances of the burglar being caught, which means they’ll be far more reluctant to try.

Of course, a professional may be able to disarm your cameras without being seen. But, this is where the real beauty of smart technology comes into play. By having cameras inside your home as well, the burglar will be recorded before they realize the cameras are there.  Unlike older systems, these images are saved on the cloud, allowing you or the police to access them from anywhere in the world.

That makes it much harder for the burglar to destroy the image and enter your house undetected.

After all, face recognition technology is improving dramatically every day, if the authorities have a good image of the intruder it’s highly likely that they’ll be able to track him down, without even leaving the police station!

Monitoring Your Home

An added benefit of having CCTV cameras inside as well is that you can connect to them from your smartphone. This will allow you to check in periodically and make sure everything is okay. In fact, this is especially useful if you’re children are at home and you’re not.

You can make sure they are doing what they’re supposed to be and not inviting all their friends around!
