The straight run stairs are the stairs used most in new home construction. Straight stairs, as the name implies, have no turns. These stairs are not as expensive to construct as other types of stairs.
- The L stairs (Quarter turn stairs) has one landing at some point along the flight of steps. If the landing is near the top or bottom of the stairs, the term Long L is used to describe the difference. L stairs are used when the space required for a straight run stairs is not available.
- Spiral stairs are mostly used at spaces lacking good amount of space. Spiral staircase don’t need big amount of floor area for its construction
There are so many types of stairs and one type to choose according to the requirement. After area and space requirement personal choices also do matter while constructing the staircase design according to likes and dislikes of particular client. In-between whatever the type of staircase you have chosen to enhance the beauty of your interiors and to get well-connected to the upper or down floors be specific about few things. Let the thread (foot landing steps) be of minimum 8” to 9” so that foot gets a comfortable landing at every step and don’t let the riser of the steps more than 6” to 8” because it may results to accidents if each step riser are too high to step on. It’s difficult for kids and oldies to manage on high rising steps.
Soon after the selection of the type of stair case design, its time to talk about material best suited for your connecting steps. Concrete is not the only option to get desired staircases, but you can go for glass, wood, tiles, marble, mosaic etc. to get the designer stair case and an astonishing look. Do not let your stair case live in darkness as this may hurt you badly even. Better to avoid 3d illusions effects at stair space to avoid unwanted accidents and hazards.
