Price Equal To Quality? How To Choose Materials For Apartment Repair

Repair of any housing includes finishing the walls and floor. When choosing materials for decoration of the apartment, you should take into account the peculiarities of the interior, quality, and it is very important to meet the budget. We tell you about the pros and cons of finishing materials, how to choose them for the repair of various rooms and for any purse.

“When choosing wallpapers, pay attention to the condition of the walls.

The most popular wall finishing material is wallpaper. Traditional paper is the most affordable, in addition, it is environmentally friendly, but fragile and short-lived. They do not tolerate moisture, so they are not suitable for kitchen decoration.

The basis of fleece wallpaper is non-woven fiber, which has a high vapor permeability, good air and moisture conductivity. Thin fliselin is quite elastic, and it can be glued even on uneven walls. It is easier to work with medium and high density cloths, but the surface should be flat.

Vinyl wallpaper can be based on paper or folieselin. On the basis of a layer of polyvinyl chloride is applied, which gives the wallpaper a high resistance to fading, strength and water-repellent properties, due to which they can be washed (even with a brush).

Specialists note that when choosing wallpaper should pay attention to the condition of the walls. If the surface is uneven, you should abandon the thin glossy wallpaper with the right pattern in a strip, it’s better to make a choice in favor of relief options. In case if the walls are made by a concrete coating company, you may not need to buy wallpaper. If the flaws in the walls are not too noticeable, you can use colored spotted wallpaper – then the drawing will visually hide the irregularities.

Laminate or linoleum?

The cheapest floor covering is linoleum. It has high strength, good thermal and acoustic insulation, moisture resistance and does not rot. With proper care, it can last up to 30 years.

– The most important advantage – today linoleum successfully imitates almost any material, while remaining more practical and convenient in care. You can choose monochrome or colored linoleum, stylized for wood, concrete or tile, – noted sales consultants of the flooring department.

Laminate will also become a durable flooring. It is not afraid of light and keeps its color fresh for a long time. It has high noise insulation and resistance to wear and abrasion.

Specialists advise to choose a moisture-resistant laminate of high wear resistance class for your kitchen. At the same time, it must have a chamfer (bevel edge – Ed.), hiding the joints, otherwise the water caught between the panels, can lead to their deformation, and to fix it is not possible. Therefore, joints are recommended to additionally impregnate with special mastic.

Bedroom laminate should be selected depending on the interior. Thus, in a bright small room should not be put laminate dark colors – it can significantly reduce the space. To visually enlarge the room, you should choose a laminate with a longitudinal pattern, but at the same time to lay it across the room.

The flooring for children’s rooms should be hypoallergenic, fire safe, warm, environmentally friendly and have a long service life.

How to choose a tile

Tiles are used for floor and wall decoration. Its surface can be glossy, matt and embossed. Glossy and matt tile practically does not differ in technical properties. The relief tile imitates natural materials.

Before choosing a tile you should decide on its purpose. Thus, the floor tiles must have a high resistance to wear. Wear resistance is indicated by the image of steps on the package: the more they are shaded, the higher the class. If there is a hand on the package, such tiles are intended for use only on walls.

It is also worth considering the slip factor. For safety reasons, the top layer of floor tiles is usually made matt or embossed. For wall tiles, however, the sliding factor is not important.

Before you buy ceramic tiles, pay attention to the tone (color shade) and caliber (size). The tone must be observed so that the tiles in the room look homogeneous and the caliber so that the seams fit perfectly. In the same collection, the tone and caliber may be slightly different, so pay attention to the packaging: all boxes should have absolutely the same markings.

Remember that dark tones visually reduce the room, in addition, on such tiles are well visible water marks. Light bright tiles, on the contrary, makes the room spacious. In narrow tall rooms should avoid vertical patterns and rectangular tiles, as it visually extends the walls, but for small rooms with low ceilings, this option will be the most successful.
